To Attach a Local .BIM file as Reference

Open the Attach iModel as Reference dialog (Ribbon > Drawing > Collaborate > Collaboration).

In the Add drop-down click on .BIM file.

The File Open dialog opens where you can navigate to your desired .BIM file.

Slect the .BIM file and click Open. All the models available in the .BIM file are displayed in the Attach iModel as Reference dialog.

Note: All the downloaded .bim files and iModels are listed in the iModels drop-down at the top right-hand side of the dialog.

You can select a .BIM file or an iModel from the list to view its models in the list box.

Select the desired models to attach as reference by clicking in the checkbox against each model.

Select Apply. The models are attached as reference in the DGN and you will see the attach icon (paper clip icon) in the Status column for the models that are attached.

Note: If you wish to detach the references, select the models using checkboxes and click Apply again. The models will be detached from the DGN, but will still be available in the Attach iModel as References dialog and display in the iModels drop-dwon list for future attachment.
